Feedback From Study Abroad Offices "Since 1987, three of Carleton's off-campus-studies seminars have regularly relied on Global Education Designs' academic, logistic, administrative, and managerial support to meet their educational objectives. It is fair to say that the success of these programs is very much a product of the creative partnership between Carleton and GED. From managing day to day logistics to modifying and expanding program offerings to take advantage of new study ideas and opportunities, GED has helped us design better programs that fit into the diverse academic, social, cultural, political, and business environments. In some cases, the partnership with GED not only made it possible for us to run culturally integrated and educationally exciting programs but to run them at all in the first place." "Global Education Designs, Pty. Ltd. has done a wonderful job of providing our St. Olaf College undergraduate students with an outstanding academic learning experience in environmental studies for the past 10 years. Our program, Environmental Science in Australia, is faculty led and runs a full semester (four months) in Australia starting in Melbourne in early February and ending in NE Australia in late May. We have organized four courses: Terrestrial Ecology, Marine Biology, Environmental Politics and Cultural Anthropology. These run simultaneously and visit a wide assortment of locations from national parks to the national capital. A very experiential program, it includes experiences such as extended stays on two different islands including 10 days out on the Great Barrier Reef, over two weeks of tent camping in the remote outback, a week stay at an aboriginal camp as well as an individual two week home-stay for our students in Brisbane. In the course of the semester, we hear lectures and presentations from over 60 Australian professionals from professors to politicians - many of whom are very prominent in their fields. The overall quality and organization provided by GED is simply outstanding. In addition to the above mentioned professionals, a GED representative accompanies the program at all times fine tuning the detailed arrangements as the program moves along. This attention to the logistical responsibilities allows the St. Olaf professor more time to teach as well as learn. St. Olaf College is currently ranked #1 by the Institute for International Education among four year institutions in the U. S. for providing international experiences for its students. The Environmental Science in Australia program contributes significantly to the strength of our overall progam of offerings. This is largely due to the quality of service and personal attention dedicated to our Australia program by GED. I would be most happy to provide more information and feedback for those interested in exploring a program with GED."
