By combining coursework with practical work placements, integrated internships are a great way for students and professionals to further their training and gain much-valued international experience.
Integrated internships usually consist of a one or two-week intensive ‘foundation’ course on a particular theme for all group participants, followed by a four to six-week individual internship placement in a related field. All placements are custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of each individual participant.
We run an integrated internship program for the Psychology Department of Lewis & Clark College (Oregon,USA). As part of the College’s summer term, a group of third and fourth-year Psychology students undertake a seven-week program in Brisbane, which consists of two courses (Australian Area Studies and Australian Internship Preparation) and a five-week placement in the students preferred field of Psychology or Human Services.
